Check Out: 2019 Hyperlite Defacto Wakeboard Boots Review

November 30, 2018

We're taking a look at the brand new 2019 Hyperlite Defacto Binding. The Defacto Binding is a brand new offering by Hyperlite for 2019 and we're really excited for a new "traditional-style" boot that is great behind the boat and at the cable park. Hyperlite has had great success with their System Line of products, but there are still quite a few cable and boat riders who prefer a traditional style boot.

Removable, Walk Liner

The Hyperlite Defacto binding includes three separate components: the shell, the liner, and a liner footbed. The liner completely removes from the shell, and features an injected EVA outsole for increased durability if you're walking around at the cable park in just the booty. Inside the booty, you'll find a footbed for extra arch support, which you can remove at your discretion. The liner also has an upper lace zone to keep the boot secure above your ankle, and makes getting in and out easy.

The Defacto Shell

Starting from the base up, the Defacto Binding is built on Hyperlite's Fusion Plate, a 6" standard, traditional style binding that will mount to any modern wakeboard. Aside from the lace on the removeable liner, the Defacto features a lace over the top of your foot to keep your foot locked down. It also has an adjustable velcro strap giving you the freedom to lock in your upper foot as tight as you like. Maybe you prefer the control of a stiff boot or maybe you prefer the flexibilty for increased movement.

Should I buy the Defacto?

If you're a Hyperlite fanatic and you've been waiting for a "non-system" cable park option, then look no further. The Defacto is going to give you the comfort & control you're after along with the convenience of a walk liner boot. Comparing to other removeable liner wakeboard bindings, at $449.99, the Defacto sits just above the Slingshot Shredtown, and just below the Ronix Kinetik. The Slingshot Shredtown and the Ronix Kinetk both have base cutouts for the liners, whereas, the Hyperlite Defacto shell has a full base underneath the liner, which means you'll stand a little higher on your board, but you'll also get a little extra dampening on your landings.

Where Can I get It?
