We just got our hands on the Liquid Force Spector competition vest and we are pretty excited about this guy. New in the line for 2019, the Spector is jam-packed with awesome features, especially if you’re looking for a cable park vest with a little extra protection. The Liquid Force Ghost vest has been a favorite here at WakeHouse for a few years, but with a little extra support from the Spector’s “Impact Armor” and well designed segmentation, the Liquid Force Spector Vest is coming in quick as a heavy hitter for this year.
Impact Armour
A brand new design for Liquid Force, the Spector features “Impact Armour,” which Liquid Force describes as “a double layer of impact absorbing foam combined with a protective polymer shield.” What’s this mean? Along the the spine, upper back, chest & stomach, this vest has two layers of shock absorbing foam in addition to a thin plastic shield that could make a bad landing on a feature a little less painful. The Impact Armour panels are substantial enough to notice, but not so big that they would obstruct your movement.
Fit & Comfort
With a super soft fleece lining, and 4-way stretch, it’s hard not to fall in love with this vest: soft on the inside, flexible and form fitting all the way around. Similar to the ghost vest, the Spector adds an extra layer of unpadded neoprene along the bottom, which helps cover up any exposed skin for a nice transition to your boardshorts
Final Take
If you’re in the market for a new impact vest, it’s hard to beat the Liquid Force Spector. The only downside may be the impact shield along the spine. Designed with the cable rider in mind, if you’re riding behind the boat, you may find this to be an extra feature you just simply don’t need. While it is light and flexible, you can still feel that it’s there. We definitely recommend this vest, especially if you’re looking for a little extra protection at the cable park.
